Other Ideas  Staying Informed as a Writer/Author The biggest favor you can do yourself as a first-time author is to stay informed about what’s happening in the writing world. If you know what’s hot, you just might come up with a second book that flies off the shelf. There are many on and off-line writers’ magazines to choose from. On-line, I get a number of regular newsletters, including Write Site, which is just packed with helpful and interesting information for writers. Quill & Quire is another excellent site that sends out a monthly e-magazine. As well, an excellent newsletter is Publishing Poynters by Dan Poynter. To get this one go Here. Mr. Poynter offers information and insights on writers and writing, as well as classes and marketing news. On his site, you will find many downloadable e-books with a wealth of information on just about anything a writer needs. As well, you can list your published books on his site free. |
